So a few of us have got a sore heads this morning but it was all worth it as we came away from the Sony Radio Academy Awards 2012 with 3 trophies!

We picked up a gold award for 2 Strangers and a Wedding - remember that?

The Sunday Roast with Caroline picked up a bronze award in the Best News and Current Affairs Programme category and the JACK News Team also picked up a bronze, this time in the News Journalist of the Year category.

2 Strangers and a Wedding

Jack FM has taken an ambitious life-changing contest idea and turned it into gripping radio through inspired production, skilled presentation and real attention to detail. It could have sounded shallow and over hyped but was instead sensitive, absorbing and spine tingling.

Local radio at its finest. The programme knows its patch, cares about its audience and makes its audience care about its patch .

News Journalist of the Year Category - 106 JACKfm News Team

This was another ILR News team - and a small one at that - providing fantastic coverage of its area, whether it was the sensitively handled interview with the sister of a knife crime victim, or a local angle on thepublic sector strikes or their social action campaign on HIV awareness.

We were also nominated for station imaging (the bit between the songs) and the judges said...

The imaging adds real character and personality to the radio station.  It supports the radio station through a clear, fresh and humorous approach that, from time to time, goes right to the edge without ever over-stepping the line. The judges particularly recognised the clever and creative writing and the prolific single use of voice in this entry to create both impact and distinctiveness.
